Launched in 2013 by the Vidal family — a dynasty involved in the art of perfumery for over a century — The Merchant of Venice is a luxury fragrance house that places one of the world's greatest cities at the very heart of its identity. Venice was the epicentre of European perfumery long before Paris: from the 11th century onwards, the Venetian Republic's maritime trade routes — the "Mude" — brought the world's rarest raw materials to the city's master craftsmen, who developed techniques that supplied the Royal Courts of Europe. The Merchant of Venice revives and honours this tradition through fragrances created by leading international perfumers and presented in bottles inspired by the ancient glassmaking art of Murano — including the spectacular hand-blown Murano Exclusive Collection. The house is closely linked to the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum of Perfumery in Venice, and is today distributed in over 80 countries. History, culture, and craft, poured into a bottle.
